Difficult to read due to many, many wording problems and bad grammar. Not much info that isn't in other how to make money books.

I wasn't going to leave a review at all, but after looking at the three 5 star reviews, I felt compelled to. I borrowed the book as I am always interested in new ways to make money online, and the Emergency Cash tag caught my eye. I know people that had a financial set back and simply needed quick cash NOW. And while I feel that the author truly was trying to be helpful, I could barely get through this book.

The grammar and words were so mixed up in places, I wasn't sure what he was trying to say. I did find a couple new items that I had not heard of in other "making money online" guides, but not too much. If this were re-written a bit more clearly, I would give it at least another star. I haven't yet read his other books (at this time I saw 4 titles on his author page) so it may be just a program error from whatever program he was using to type. I'm not sure why the other readers gave it 5 stars as it REALLY needs to be cleaned up. But since it was free on Kindle Unlimited, I took a chance. I would not pay for it until it has been edited to be more reader-friendly.

Incoherent mess

Absolute garbage. No real information here, just an incoherent mess with tons of spelling and grammar mistakes. It might as well be random words on a page which would actually probably be better than this nonsense. My guess is the author is one of those people churning out crap Kindle book after crap Kindle book trying to make money $0.99 at a time. Thank goodness I didn't pay for this and you shouldn't either!

This book is phenomenal -- REALLY tells it like nobody else can

I've had the pleasure of watching James grow into the phenomenal success that he enjoys today. And yes, it really did all start as he lays it out in this book -- I saw it happen! Well, MOST of it...

After he made the $2991, I jumped on the 'P. James bandwagon' because it was obvious that this guy was going places and I wanted to be a part of it, even if just to watch him blaze trails! And that $2991 was no fluke -- you could tell from his personality and the obvious drive that he has, and it was also just the beginning!

What he shares in this book -- this case study, actually -- is how he did it. And probably more important to the reader, how YOU can do it also. He lays it out, step by step, and really does make it all sound so simple.

James will be one of the first to tell you, though -- simple doesn't always mean the same thing as 'easy'. Doing what he did will require you to push through some barriers of yours, barriers you may not even know are there. But he'll also be the first to tell you that not only are they there, but will help you see them and then break right through them.

He now knows what's on the 'other side' (hint -- it starts with 'free' and ends with 'dom'!), and it seems to be his personal mission to help whoever he finds in his path that also wants to get there, to get there.

Bottom line -- this book is an incredible investment in more ways than one. Price-wise? That's so ridiculous it isn't even an issue -- get it! And for the little time you'll invest reading it, you absolutely WILL come away from the book with more than you had before it (a bunch of smiles, some inspiration, a solid plan to create your own success...whatever!).

You'll likely come away with a newfound sense of hope, that maybe...just MAYBE...you can really accomplish greater things, too. Now what's THAT worth??

About the Author

Kaushik Bhattacharya is Professor of Mechanics and Materials Science at the California Institute of Technology. He received a NSF Young Investigator Award in 1994, the Charles Lee Powell Award in 1997 and in 2002, was invited to take part in the Frontiers of Engineering Symposium organised by the National Academy of Engineering. He is a member of various editorial boards.

Good, but could explain a little more

This book cleared up much of the mystery for me on the microstructural mechanisms behind the strange behavior of NiTi. It does a great job of using the framework of continuum mechanics to explain the kinematics of martensite, without using WLR theory, whose terms, in my opinion, have no easy physical interpretation. So if you are comfortable with continuum mechanics, with a little studying, this book will clear up many subtle points about martensite.

That said, there are a few areas where a picture, a few more sentences, and a little more derivation would have been nice. For example, before reading this book, I had never seen the kinematic compatiblity equation (Hadamaard Jump Condition) before, and Bhattacharya does not derive it or even point to a reference that does. After some thinking, I finally got it, but it's frustrating to have to work that hard when the kinematic compaitbility equation is central to understanding the rest of the results in the book.

A Must For Would Be Traders

New Trader, Rich Trader is an impressive work on the vast array of trading literature available in the world. The book is full of information that every beginning and intermediate trader can and should use to better their trading results. Trading can be one of the most rewarding and nerve racking things anyone can do. I've made and lost tons of money in the market, I've had the hair pulling experiences of watching profits turn into losses, and the exciting experience of coming back from those losses, and making massive profits. I've shorted BP, and I've gone long stocks that have jumped up hugely, and I've had the reverse happen as well.

When I started I watched half my money vanish in the matter of a month or so. With this book, I'm quite certain that that wouldn't have been the case. Steve Burns is showing himself to become part of the ranks of other great writers of the market , like Michael Covel and Dr. Alexander Elders. This book has simple rules and instructions, basic things that aren't so basic that anyone who follows them will see better results, and get to skip that horrible and painful couple of years of suffering losses.

An Essential Trading Pocketbook

This is by far one of the best trading pocketbook which covers all the essentials of successful trading. It's so different from other books in that this one is instilling essential trading principles by telling a imaginative story between a new trader and a rich trader. But if you think it over while you enjoy this book, you'll be very surprised and shocked that this book may be telling your story, to some extent, that either happened in the past or is happening at the moment.

Many people are misguided by info surrounding us which are provided for a purpose and believe that the most important part of successful trading is picking up the right stock. They think that's the holy grail of success in trading. However, that's actually the least important part of trading. There's no such a stock that's called the right stock. Instead, we should be more dedicated to working on ourselves and the trading system that fits us, which corresponds to what the author is trying to emphasize in this essential trading pocketbook,namely psychology, risk, and methodology. This book might reads simple to many experienced traders, but even they will acknowledge that this book do cover a lot of essential principles for trading success. For new traders, this is absolutely an excellent trading pocketbook to start with. You'll usually see yourself as the new trader in the book and learn what you should work on to keep yourself on track.

This book is absolutely one of the best that you can use to build a solid foundation for your future trading success if you are serious about this business, have a faith in it and would like to commit to it. Great for newbies, rookies, beginners and anyone needing help.

I began trading about five years, with a low six figure account, mostly for grins. The majority of my retirement assets were handled by "professionals." You know, one of those companies that has an office in every town. I was subscribing to "Investors Business Daily" for some help. Then came 2008 into 2009. The "professionals" had lost over HALF of my seven figure retirement account, with their buy and hold and hold and hold plan. I took over my retirement acct. in 2013. Needing more help, with so much more at stake, I purchased this book. It is fantastic for the beginner. It doesn't tell you WHAT to buy and sell. It tells you HOW to buy and sell. Specifics on the DO's and psycho. logyTs of trading strategies. It covers the psychology of trading, risk management and many helpful ideas. Easy reading and GREAT BOOK!!!

One tool in the tool chest.

This is the first time I have used the Pimsleur method. When first starting out with it, I was intimidated by the speed, as several reviewers have commented negatively on. However, this is actually part of the method, which I found out when I looked up Pimsleur's method online. About the time I was able to put together some of the words in the phrase, the phrase would be repeated and I would be repeating along with the speaker. Then there is another gap to say the phrase again. When I understood the rhythm it started to make a lot of sense.

It does work, for me at least, and though I had learned some Thai language in the past, the relentless repetition, especially of the numbers, has embedded them in my long term memory more effectively.
I play these non-stop in the car and have made it through all 8 discs a few times. I just keep reviewing them, going back to disc 3 or so, and after a few months I know everything that is in all 8 discs.

Some have complained that the man and the woman pronounce the words differently. Anyone who has learned a language via discs (or if really old like me, tapes, and I guess discs are also old school now), knows that once you land in that country whose language you have studied diligently from afar, all of that perfect language you learned does not help a whole lot when trying to understand what native speakers are saying. Even after 20 years of extensive travel in Mexico and possessing reasonable Spanish language skills, I still encounter people that I cannot understand very well. When I lamented this to my Mexico City friend Carlos, who is 65 and lived in el D.F. all his life, he said, "well, when you go to other parts of the US can you easily understand everyone? I can't understand some peoples' Spanish either". One needs to keep a realistic perspective.

But I digress... I believe that Pimsleur has used different pronunciations (L vs R for example, and slight differences in cadence between the man and woman speakers) to give the student a bit of real life experience ahead of their visit to Thailand. When one is standing at the counter of a store in Thailand, they are not going to be criticizing the person behind the counter for not speaking like the man or woman on the Pimsleur CD.

My only complaint, and others have mentioned this as well, is that the conversation is oriented very much toward informal meetings of business clients with a heavy bias towards eating and drinking out. I would have preferred more bias to general social interaction as part of the basic course.
I also felt that the explanation of time was a bit strange, by not telling the listener right away that 7 is actually a different name than 1, along with several other numbers when explaining afternoon vs evening time. For those who did not study numbers elsewhere, there might be some confusion about what is going on there. They do remedy it later on, but I think it could have been handled a bit better, along with the general descriptions of the times of day. I went to a different resource for more clarity with time.

Realistically, one cannot expect to use just one method if one is truly serious about learning a language. This is just one tool. I also have a stack of books to help me learn the written language, along with other essential words and phrases.

To this end I searched online and purchased an absolutely amazing dictionary and phrasebook from Paiboon publishing for iPhone/iPad. I would consider this dictionary to be essential and a real bargain for $24.95. There are also many excellent tutorial videos on youtube, including one where they go out onto the street and talk to a tuk tuk driver, and then analyze what he was saying. It's great and Pimsleur basic Thai is not going to help much in understanding that guy. It demonstrates very well the difference between academic and real world language. One needs to immerse in every way possible before visiting the country, and then be prepared to be bewildered for a while after one gets there. For me that's part of what makes travel exciting, invigorating, and ultimately rewarding.

I have only been to Thailand once, in 1987, which was my first international trip as a young lad, and I practiced extensively with cassette tapes in the car beforehand, along with a phrasebook using the phonetic pronunciations. When I got there I found that my work really helped. Though I could not read the language, Thai people could understand my very basic greetings. This is also where I learned that being polite goes a very long way, and since then I have always made a point of learning what is polite behavior in the countries I visit. Most basic would be to never walk into a place and just start speaking English, expecting someone to understand, which is something my countrypeople are rampantly guilty of.

What I figured out right away on that trip is that when I bought something, I would count the money out loud. Since there was no conversation involved I could do that without getting confused. In small towns the young children that inevitably would crowd around the tall falang were always amazed to hear me speaking Thai, even though that was pretty much all the Thai I knew.
The next time I will be going for an extended stay, and even with all my preparation (I will probably also buy the extended Pimsleur course), when I get there, I know I will still have lots of work to do.

It is never easy learning a new language (at least not for me) ...

It is never easy learning a new language (at least not for me) so I was hesitant to learn by listening to CD's in this method. When I first began I was like wow this is completely impossible....sounded like complete mumbo jumbo! But I kept listening over and over and over again and little by little things started making sense and actually sinking in. I am now making progress little by little and starting to really appreciate learning in this manner. I find it so much easier than studying a language from a book. I listen to the tapes on my way to and from work. You just need to be disciplined enough to listen to the CD's.

I think this series makes Thai harder than it needs to be...it pauses between phrases (to help with pronunciation?) and that is very disruptive to my learning...

Born and raised in Uganda, Wambalye Weikama attended college in the United States, where he earned his Master s degree in Technology Management from the University of Washington in Seattle. A great insider's view on the regional conflicts and their impact on affected communities. A good book that informs us on how people become who they are and how our environment shapes our outlook. A graphic account of the wars in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo and the lengths people go to to survive. A moving story of triumph in the face of adversity. A story that challenges our humanity and draws us in. Very well-written. Very descriptive. Very detailed. Very real. It's hard to believe that this is a work of fiction.

About the Author

Joe Tidd is Professor of technology and information management at SPRU (Science and Technology Policy Research) and visiting Professor at University College London, Cass Business School, Copenhagen Business School, and Rotterdam School of Management. Dr Tidd was previously Head of the Management of Innovation Specialisation and Director of the Executive MBA Programme at Imperial College.

John Bessant holds the Chair in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Exeter University where he is also Research Director. In 2003, he was awarded a Fellowship with the Advanced Institute for Management Research and was also elected a Fellow of the British Academy of Management. He served on the Business and Management Panel of both the 2001 and 2008 Research Assessment Exercises. He has acted as advisor to various national governments and to international bodies including the United Nations, The World Bank and the OECD.
