A city of opportunity and dangerous temptation, it set the agenda for others to follow. Huge success and degrading humiliation were of passing interest only as the world’s greatest city hurled itself restlessly forward seeking its next distraction.

Informative and Interesting

Journalistic and full of information. In writing a biography of Jeremy Brett (1933-95), I found Hutton's book quite valuable. Though it deals mainly with middle class life, postwar, there is a chapter about creative trends and prominent people in all artistic fields. Wonderful photos as well, and information about the coronation in 1953.

About the Author
Dr. Charles Lee Feinberg was one of the nation's leading authorities on Jewish history, Old Testament languages and customs, and biblical prophecy. He grew up in an orthodox Jewish home, studying Hebrew and related subjects in preparation for the rabbinate. Dr. Feinberg was involved with a number of research organizations, including the Society of Biblical Exegesis and the American Schools of Oriental Research at Jerusalem and Baghdad. He was the Dean, Professor of Semitics of Old Testament at Talbot Theological Seminary from 1952-75 and Dean, Emeritus, Professor of Semitics and Old Testament at Talbot Theological Seminary from 1975-79. He is the author of many books, including: 'God Remembers: A Study of Zechariah' 'Israel in the Last Days' 'The Sabbath and the Lord's Day' and 'Minor Prophets'

Best Commentary on Ezekiel from Dispensational Viewpoint

Teaching or preaching on Ezekiel can get tough, but Feinberg provides a fine interpretation of the text from a Premillennial, Dispensational, and Conservative viewpoint. Feinberg believes God is not through with Israel, but has future plans for his chosen nation (yet personal salvation is only available through Jesus Christ).

The book is highly intepretative, seeking out the original intent and meaning of the text. Feinberg often lists options of interpretation (from a conservative viewpoint) and then concludes which view seems the best.

Although it is anything but dumbed-down, this is an understandable work, not bogged down with numerous (unncessary) references to the Hebrew; Hebrew words that are significant are sometimes briefly expounded. This is 293 pages of meaningful interpretation, no fluff nor tedious technicalities. Feingberg does sometimes include a brief but meaningful application of the text.

This work is invaluable to pastor, professor, or serious layman alike. Ezekiel can get thick, but Feinberg is a great freind to take along on the journey! By far the best!

A short review of The Prophecy of Ezekiel by Charles L. Feinberg

This book is a reprint of an earlier publication. Dr. Feinberg a conservative theologian and recognized O.T. authority has done an excellent job of joining the technical with the devotional. Ezekiel is a difficult book to understand for the average layman, but Dr. Feinberg does much to make the book clear. I am using it, along with others, to prepare a series of Bible study lessons for an adult Sunday school class. It has very quickly risen to the top of the stack of sources I'm using.

Save your money!

If you already own/read The 100, save your money and skip this. I was excited that this was a whole new program, but to me it's just a rewritten The 100. Other than a couple of updates to the "free" foods and some rewritten daily meal plans, at the end of the day, it's The 100. I recently purchased the updated The 100 (from 2015) and 2 months later, I feel as if I have basically bought the same book. This is the last Jorge Cruise book I will buy...I'm tired of shelling out money for basically the same thing with a few minor changes.

Nothing New Here/

Nothing new if you have read his recent books. . The affirmations are like the ones you get on any inspirational calendar, ranging from Helen Keller to Tony Robbins. Some recipes are together and some are in the daily sections. The recipes all look delicious but why can't they all be together, along with the affirmations? The formatting is like his other books, terrible and all over the map. I don't like that he does not give portion sizes on the freebie list or nutrition info for the recipes. Eating till satisfied , is often hard for people who are overweight to be able to gauge . I have read his other books and have had that same complaint. I na�vely thought this book would be different, since, who would have the nerve to just write a re-hash of other books, throw in some lame affirmations and market it as something groundbreaking and new? If you want an intelligent read about the effects of stress on weight loss, get the Haley Pomroy books, The Burn and The Fast Metabolism Diet. You may not want to follow the plans but you can at least get knowledge regarding stress/cortisol etc. and how everything comes into play. Too many recommended supplements and his brand of protein powder sounds like the JJ Virgin non vegan protein powder. Also, so many colors and fonts and glossy paper in this and his other recent books, I guess to detract from the lack of content. I'm not a child, I can read a book without colored glossy pages and different fonts. Check it out from the library before you buy it. I wish I would have.

Nature in Design cleverly juxtaposes images of things natural and man-made: an armadillo and the hooded roof of J�rn Utzon's Sidney Opera House, the Finnish woodlands and an interior by Alvar Aalto, a bird's nest and a "cocoon lounge" from the 1960s, a fish skeleton and Santiago Calatrava's Lyon Station. The photographs alone will amuse and amaze, but Alan Powers's book could also serve as an insightful, intelligent introduction to basic principles of design, which are nearly always based on or in reaction to the natural world, as those principles have shifted over time.

I have in hand a copy of the dictionary. The 2 previous reviewers must be referring to a different edition, perhaps the pocket edition.The edition I hold contains the words claimed as unlisted by the last reviewer.The preface states it is based on an older compact edition. But this one is up to date. Among the contributors are two computer terminology specialists. The french grammar section is an excellent introduction of about one hundred pages(includes conjugation tables). For words with more than one meaning there are often examples of usage.Each section (french to english and english to french)is over 500 pages. Very legible text.

Review of the actual edition we're talking about here

Several of the reviewers here are not addressing the edition listed. This is a review of ISBN 9780071440691, Harrap's French and English Dictionary published by McGraw Hill.

This edition is NOT a pocket-sized dictionary. It is a soft-cover compact volume that claims to have over 170,000 translations. It is by far the most exhaustive of the dictionaries I've investigated. It is easy to read, includes a wonderful and useful midsection grammer review, and has many, many examples of how to form the kinds of phrases that we toss off in English on a daily basis without really thinking about it. This dictionary will go a long way toward helping a speaker sound more fluid and fluent, and less like someone cobbling together French phrases after first translating from the English.

Take the English word fair, for example. This dictionary will give you various translations for the word itself, but will also teach you how to say "It's not fair," "fair's fair," "fair enough," "it is fair to say that," "by fair means or foul," "all's fair in love and war," "fair game," "fair play," "we've had our fair share of problems," "a fair idea," "at a fair pace," "fair to middling," etc. Many of these translations are not made literally, and this dictionary provides the equivalent French expression so that you won't come off sounding like a clueless dork. (And we wouldn't want that, would we.) In some cases, the book also notes differences between British and American English, and between French as it is spoken in Canada, Belgium, and France.

Yes, as the one-star reviewer (who was addressing an entirely different edition) noted, the book does not have an entry for "Jacques Bonhomme," but the book does include the rest of the "J" words he listed as missing. (Also, for the record, if you look under "Tom" in the English section, the book will give you the French equivalent of "any Tom, Dick, or Harry.") All in all, a great dictionary at a great price.

The story was passable but it was too unrealistic, I know this is fiction however families who are as close knit as the writer made them out to be do not usually accept or get to close to someone who has hurt their loved one.

Just ok, not outstanding.

I am a fan of Ms. Bowers books but this was my least favorite. Although the family is very close this was just extreme. The brothers abusing their power by having the people police harass Jason, the lack of privacy the couple had from meddling mothers to gossiping siblings was too much. After all, Ria is a grown woman. I also got a little tired of reading about "her green eyes", Irish temper, Irish pranks etc- I am cool the family is bi-racial but too emphasis on it. There was barely a description of Jason- took me about 3/4 into the book when I figured he was African-America. Unlike most of the other books there was very little action which made this one kind of dull. I am still a fan and hope Sean and Ameila and Kierin's story is more interesting and exciting. Also, please get a better editor- multiple issues throughput the book.

Not a bad story per say but not my cup of tea

I didn't really like the way the main hero was treated by the brothers with the police keep stopping him and then two of them getting in his face about sleeping with the sister. I mean, honestly, he should feel trepidation with meeting the heroines daughters; he barely knew the main woman so why would he immediately want to officially meet her daughters. It just wasn't my cup of tea; it was too instant love.

I absolutely have no idea about html coding. The book did say that it's a guide for absolute beginners. It's very informative with the history at the start and the author included examples on what it would look like and the basic tags they use in html. Honestly, I understood what the basics are but not really confident that I can pull through with it. Anyway, something is always better than nothing. If you're looking to refresh your memory about basic coding or a base line knowledge in it, this is a good book. It's worth the read.
