First time I've ever lost interest in a series...

I started this series after seeing a low price for book one on my kindle. The first few books weren't too bad, and I was able to look past improper grammar, poor spelling, and weak storytelling to try and see the story and setting underneath. By book 4 those thing I overlooked grated on my nerves so much that I was unable to fully enjoy the story. I continued to give the story the benefit of the doubt despite the poor writing, but between book 5 and 6 the story itself is being destroyed by deus ex machina and poor intertwining of individual story arcs.

May just have to stop reading...

The series began- elementary descriptions and grammar, repetitive story themes, identical fights and plot building, but it was decent enough to escape into. I liked the characters and it seemed like the story was going to be a long and evolving one. But, the author is banging out these books like popcorn and it severely shows in the lack of effort and imagination put into the development of the story.
I have been pushing through to see what happens but if there were cliff notes on this series I feel like I would much prefer to read them to cut through the unnecessary fat.
This last book was so poorly conceived and SO obviously rushed that it had me rolling my eyes and saying out loud "come on, really?!".
I may actually for once stop reading a series before the end.

Not a very good series at all. Only reason I am still reading it is because I have to finish the story once I start, but if you are thinking about reading this series just don't seriously just don't. The story is not very well written the characters never develop but stay locked in pre-teen idiotic decision making mode. There is so much better fantasy out there. Usually there is a far amount of repetition in fantasy books that are part of a series because you need to know the details of the world and how it works and must be reintroduced to it in each book but this series takes it to the extreme not only are the world details repeated but the characters repeat the same actions again and again. I write this hoping others will see this review while researching the series and decide not to read.

A great book for Biopsychology students and those who are interested in brain.

If you are looking for a `friendly' book that gives you a comprehensive introduction on Biopsychology. This is the one to go for. It is meant to be a textbook, yes, but it could also be an enjoyable read for those who are interested in why we behave the way we do, for example, why do we sleep? Why have sex? What cause satiety and appetite?

The book starts off nicely with the introduction to neurons, brains and biological psychology before proceeding to chapters covering a wide range of topics such as sensory systems, the control of movement, hunger, satiety and body weight, emotional state, sleep, sexual development and behaviour, learning and memory, language and cognition, mental illness, drugs and addiction, degenerative diseases of the brain, genes and behaviour.

You don't need to have a previous background in psychology to be able to follow the book. (I have no background in psychology. My educational background is in Mathematics with secondary school science knowledge, plus English is not my first language and I can follow the book just fine.) The way the book was written is as if the author is talking to me. I have enjoyed reading this book. Despite the book being labeled as a textbook, it does not give a tranquilising effect like many other textbooks do.

You can either start off from chapter 1 or jump to any chapter of your interest. When my friend saw this book, he flipped through the contents and jumped right to the sex chapter.

Another `nice' features of this book apart from it being very well-written in a language accessible to non-psychology major and laypeople alike are that it is well-illustrated, a clear and concise summary at the end of each chapter. The book also includes a list of further reading for each chapter so that the readers can expand their knowledge of the topic.

About the Author
Catherine Cookson lived in Northumberland, England, the setting of many of her international bestsellers. Born in Tyne Dock, she was the illegitimate daughter of an impoverished woman, Kate, whom she was raised to believe was her older sister. She began to work in the civil service but eventually moved south to Hastings, where she met and married a local grammar school master.
Although she was originally acclaimed as a regional writer, in 1968 her novel "The Round Tower" won the Winifred Holtby Award, her readership quickly spread worldwide, and her many bestselling novels established her as one of the most popular contemporary authors. After receiving an OBE in 1985, Catherine Cookson was made a Dame of the British Empire in 1993. She died shortly before her ninety-second birthday, in June 1998, having completed 104 works.

Slow Starter

I had to read the first few chapters before Riley really became interesting. Hang in there and 4/5 of the book is great. It just gets off to a slow start.

Once Again A Wn

Once again Catherine Cookson has brought us a cast of characters that make it unable to put down the book until the end. I thought she brought a new subject to her writing; that of a younger man falling for an older woman. As usual, there are the unexpected twists and turns to keep it interesting. Good book.

Definitely one of my favourite Catherine Cookson books. So heartwarming. The characters are very believable. Cookson has taken what can be shunned upon in society (even in this day and age) and softened the situation. She shows how life need not be perfect but still be perfect.

About the Author
Dr. Chris Hill served as youth and associate pastor at Bishop T. D. Jakes’s church in Dallas, Texas, before traveling as a world evangelist for seven years. In 2009, he began preaching at a struggling church in Denver, Colorado. Soon after his arrival, he was installed as senior pastor of the church, which became The Potter’s House of Denver in 2010. Now one of the fastest growing churches in America, The Potter’s House provides one of Denver’s largest homeless initiatives, a prison ministry that serves over ten prisons state-wide, a free counseling center, and services for veterans, seniors, and youth. Great book

This is the first book I have read of Chris hill never heard of him but something,led me to pre-order this and read and glad I did it as if God was speaking to me I was in a abusive second marriage my first husband left me forcing me to go to work for the first time in my late 30's it's as if everything was wrote especially for me people think it is easy to let go of past this book shows why it is hard

If you want to understand your spiritual journey, please get this book. Pastor Hill clearly lays out the different places we must travel in order to reach our destination. You will never study the life of King David the same or wonder how or why you are at a particular place (spiritually). What revelation

I would give this book 25 Stars! It blessed me so from beginning to end! I literally could not put it down! Pastor Chris's approach is straight honest, pure, transparent, connected to the WORD, and detailed enough to take you on the journey as if it were your own! I have already purchased a second copy which I gifted to a 13 year old boy who's life mirrors Pastor Hill's! I know he wil be highly encouraged!!! AWESOME!!!
